Currently On View: FSCJ Kent Campus Gallery

Icky: Body as Archive is on view through December 6 at FSCJ Kent Campus Gallery.

The exhibition takes a closer look at Icky., a recurring twelve-year-old character from Pikin., my body of work on Black girlhood. Through painting and installation, I consider how the places she moves through shape what she notices, how she responds, and what her body carries. The exhibition also includes photographs from my Body as Archive research project, in which participants documented places and objects tied to their own experiences of safety, memory, and belonging.

I’ll also join Professor Dustin Harewood for an artist talk on November 23 at 2 PM. I hope you’ll spend some time with the work and join us for a conversation about Icky. and the questions that continue to shape her story.
